Winter Break Arrives Early

And just like that, school was out two days early due to exponentially rising COVID cases. No more homework, no more school lunches and no more early mornings….For the time being. Here are some of the things that the girls have been doing to pass the time:

Doing arts and crafts

Making graham cracker candy houses

Being a clown

Wearing oversized Sherpa hoodies

Going on adventures

Playing in a park in Snow Suits

Winter Comes Early

And so it was that it snowed in the fall….A perfect time to don winter gear, and visit some animals that enjoy being out in the snow:

The Girls Meet Their Cousin

Albeit through a window, the girls recently got to meet their new cousin, born mid-October. They fought to see who would get to the window first…Because they simply have to fight over everything…

They look forward to holding their new cousin once they are vaccinated and the baby’s immune system is stronger…

The Halloween Squirrels

Halloween might be over for the kids, but not for the squirrels…They didn’t even seem to care that the pumpkins had several layers of paint on them:

After missing out on the Hallowed evening last year due to to COVID, the girls were intent on collecting as many candies as possible, notwithstanding the rain…

Walking to School

Morning have been so much less stressful, as we now live walking distance from the girls school. Leaving 5 minutes before the bell rings allows for some well deserved sleeping in…Here they are; the youngest skipping to school:

The girls also tried their very first candy apples, although they never actually got to the apple:

Back On Track

After several stressful weeks, we are back on track. We managed to move out of our old house and into our new home 12 days ago. The girls didn’t miss a beat, and are enjoying their new place…even though it is currently sparsely furnished. They enjoy walking to school, meeting new neighbours and discovering the local parks and water access. Here are a few photos:

Moving Is Not Easy

The last two weeks have flown by as we get ready to move after 7 years in our current house. How did we ever accumulate so much? The older two have been helping pack up their rooms, while the youngest is not yet ready to part with any of her belongings. Here some photos of their girls with the items they weren’t keeping..

A Quick Trip to Quebec City

We were able to squeeze in a last minute trip to Quebec City prior to the start to the school year. The first three days were extremely hot, but the girls managed to have a great trip. We saw the Chateau Frontenac up close, took a ferry to Levis, and on the last day walked along the Promenade des Gouverneurs and the Plains of Abraham. We found a very nice splash pad to cool off in Levis, rode a Ferris wheel, swam daily in the hotel pool and even explored the Museum of Civilization:

The Synchro Girls

With ever-changing rules and new variants, the synchro team was not expecting an end-of-summer completion. But so it was that last week, our girls performed with waterproof make-up, to music, without their goggles, and with 5 judges scoring them. They seemed to throughly enjoy their first “artistic-swimming” foray. Here are a few photos:

For their efforts, they won “best overall synchro” at the awards ceremony of their local pool:
