A Visit To A Rescue Aquarium

 A few years ago, the girls watched a film called Dolphin’s Tale, and learned about a real bottle nose dolphin who had been rescued from a crab trap. She ended up losing her tail and requiring a prosthesis. This dolphin lived for 16 years at a marine aquarium in Clearwater, dying only a few months ago. While the girls didn’t get to meet Winter the dolphin, we spent an entire day at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and met some other rescued animals. While some  of the animals were rehabbing, others were permanent residents and could not be retuned to the wild for a variety of reasons (e.g. hearing loss or loss of echolocation).
