Homeschool: First Week

Earlier this week, I explained to my girls that there would be no school for a while, and that instead we would be doing "homeschool". After the first day, my 6-year old did declared:

"Mama, there is no such thing as homeschool, you are not a teacher, and you can’t also be the principal!"

The older two seems to enjoy the new schedule which included let and crafts, music, homework and best of all free time.

Staying Home

Late Thursday night, we found out that there would be no school on Friday. And on Friday, we found out that in fact there would be no school, pool, nor ice time for at least the next 2 weeks. I agree that the move was necessary given the current pandemic. But what to do with 3 kids at home for 2 weeks?
Here is what we did Friday:

-Slept in
-Used their i-Pads during the week!
-The girls had pancakes for breakfast
-Did homework
-Went to Chapters the finally use their gift-cards
-Made bracelets out of string
-Played ping-pong in the basement with Papa who was working from home
-Went for a walk to the nearby park despite the snow, and large puddles
-Enjoyed a french movie night at home

It seemed easy enough, but what to do for the next 2 weeks...

First Trip To Disney World

We survived our first trip to Disney World. 4 days of sweltering heat, large crowds and long line-ups...Not much of a vacation for the grown-ups, but the kids certainly enjoyed themselves:

A Fun-Filled Week

The girls had a very fun-filled week. From Monday through to Friday, their school hosted "Carnival Week." Activities included building an ice-castle out of colourful ice blocks (it melted the same day), taking the school bus to the local rink and skating with classmates, Jersey Day (2 of our girls wore their ringette jerseys), a flag parade where the kids made flags at home a brought them into school for the special event, and a hola-hoop contest (which our middle child won for her grade).

Not only was it carnival week, but this year, Ayyám-i-Há fell on the same week (Tuesday-Saturday). The girls each received gifts every day for five days, and they also received some from their Auntie and Grandma. And finally, the Ayyám-i-Há party took place Saturday evening. The girls skated, then enjoyed pizza and cupcakes that they decorated amongst friends.

Our First-Born Reaches Double Digits!

I can hardly believe that I gave birth to my first-born 10 years ago! Early on, everything seemed to go by in slow motion...yet here we are 10 years later!

Quebec City for the Weekend

So it was that we braved a snow storm and headed to Quebec City for the weekend. We went for a swim meet, but we nonetheless enjoyed the City. The Bonhomme du Carnival visited the pool and invited all the kids to the winter carnival. Unfortunately the frigid weather (close to -20C) kept us indoors. Fortunately we discovered an indoor amusement park and threw an impromptu birthday party for the two older ones who both have upcoming February birthdays. Here are a few photos:
